About Student Movers
A Legacy of Trusted Moving in Denver Since 1974
From a College Hustle to One of Denver’s Most Trusted Moving Companies
Student Movers was founded in 1974 by Dan Jacobsen, a student at the University of Denver who started the company with a few friends and a pickup truck to help cover the cost of college. What began as a side hustle quickly grew into a thriving small business, built on hard work, friendly service, and a deep understanding of what people really need on moving day.
In 1991, Dan passed the torch to the Linane family, who continued to grow the business and expand its reputation for affordable, reliable moving services across the Denver metro area. Tracey Hutson, a proud member of the Linane family, played an integral role in operations and customer service—becoming the heart of the company for many longtime clients.
In 2012, Buehler Companies, one of the top moving and logistics companies in the country, acquired Student Movers to bring even more resources, innovation, and long-term stability to the business. Today, Tracey Hutson continues to run Student Movers, bringing her decades of experience and her family’s legacy to every move, backed by the national strength of Buehler.
